I had Mz. LaMuth for creative writing way back in ..., well it was awhile ago. I thought I was so smart, and a good writer. She assigned me to "describe the taste of an apple" - and I couldn't. I just couldn't wrap my head around it. I could describe the feel, the texture, but not the taste. She was a wonderful teacher and supported me through that struggle, helping me to become a better writer and a better person.
I will always remember your fun 4th parties and those sunglasses to always wore. So happy for our girls friendships and watching them grow up to have beautiful lives of their own. Amy cherished you as her teacher as you lead her way into journalism and successful career. God will bless you JoAnn for all those who lives you have touched. Fred and Linda Reister

I was so sad to hear of Ms. LaMuth's passing. She always encouraged me with my writing and was one of my most memorable teachers at Bexley. She went above and beyond. Today, I'm a published poet, and Ms. LaMuth will always be one of the Teachers That Mattered.

Ms. LaMuth was very cherushed by me as a student in the 80's at BHS. I LOVED her warmth and wit as my English teacher. She was deeply inspiring and supportive. She encouraged my creativity fiercely and even bought my ink drawing "Ronto the Unicorn," a piece I had created to go with my poem of the same name. She paid me $50 for it and framed it and hung it in her house. She showed me and she truly seemed happy with it. That act on her part became a critical reminder in my life to believe in myself. I wish I had a photo of the drawing, but I remember it clearly, artwork I was really proud of and a shy part of my identity that got enduringly affirmed by a great teacher. I have thought of her many times over the years and I wish I had been able to tell her that. I feel lucky to have known her, particularly at such a formative time in my life.
Oh my goodness. So sad to see this. Just finding out. :( I worked with Joanne on the purchase of her home at Apple Valley. She was one of the most fun and interesting ladies I have EVER worked with. Shes a special gal. Blessings and Hugs to the family. Thinking of you all. Sherrie Toth
