Herbert Anthony Caulder of Columbus (formerly of Buckeye Lake), age 83, went home to be with his savior Jesus Christ on July 29, 2024. Herb (as most people called him) was born in The Bronx, New York on June 4, 1941 to the late He Read Obituary
Carolyn & Herb were the first people I met and rented from at Chatham Village, in 2015. I remember my first tour of the 1 bedroom unit was about 2 hours long :) She told me the story of how she met and married Herb. They were awfully sweet and cute together. Carolyn reminded me that “when she got old” she was going to kick me out and move back in because that was her favorite unit; and by gosh, they sure did! He cared for her until the very end. They also amazed me by fitting their large, and beautiful, furniture from their home in buckeye lake, back into the 1 bedroom unit. Herb was always a pleasant neighbor to run into, drop off cookies for, and chat with. He always told me he enjoyed the cookies along with a glass of milk and the 11 o’clock news. He was a wine club member and whenever I would stop by he would try to give me a bottle of wine! They were always there for me, and never without a captivating stories. He will be missed greatly, and I’m so glad they are finally reunited.
Many, many years ago, Herb was a father to me. We watched many sunrises in Central Park, listened to Cuban music in his orange VW bug, he carried me on his back, diving off of Ninevah Beach, Sag Harbor. We ate calzones and DQ ice cream sundaes together. We shopped at Bloomingdales and he used to pay me a quarter to walk on his painful back. He was on the PTA at my school and drove me to play dates with my friends. I spent weekends with his loving, generous mother in her penthouse and drowned myself in her Rose lotion back in the 1970s. I love you, Herb. I miss you. Thank you.
So sorry for your loss, Herb & Caroline were kind and generous to the BLYC.
I first met them in Cols. at Oakleaf, where I became very fond of Mary.
